Tokyo's Western-style hotels cater to business travelers and tourists. Though the prices may be shocking to some travelers, the high level of comfort and service found in these hotels makes it seem worthwhile. The hotels, many of which are members of major hotel chains, a bonus for members of various frequent guest programs, feature high-speed Internet connections, business centers, large beds, and roomy bathrooms. Staff are knowledgeable and generally speak English.
Because of their focus on business travelers, visitors can easily obtain Western-style meals in the hotel restaurants. Concierge service is available to assist with reservations and writing out directions for taxi drivers. These large hotels often feature top-notch city views, lots of shopping, and spa services.
There are quite a few Western-style hotels geared toward the budget traveler as well. While not as full-featured as the high-end hotels, they generally have private bathrooms and full-sized beds.
